With the auto industry reaching into more and more hybrid technologies, there are a bunch of manufacturers sitting in design rooms. Volvo, a name we are all familiar with has another brand under its umbrella called Polestar. Have you ever heard of it? Think Tesla, but different.
From Polestar: “Polestar is an electric performance car brand unlike any other. We innovate to drive progress and create a better future, a future that is sustainable, hassle free and strikingly beautiful. We share technology and engineering expertise with the Volvo Car Group, yet we go our own way as a guiding star.”
At Polestar, we say “Goodbye Normal”.
With a 2-liter in-line 4-cyl. supercharged and turbocharged engine making 619 hp…it caught our attention. But…it’s a car…and this is ModernJeeper! So when Polestar released a concept that would compete with, or even “kill” the electric Wrangler before it is even born…we had to take a look. Meet the Polestar Golem.
The Polestar Golem has a virtually non-existent front overhang, supreme ground clearance, superb break-over angle thanks to its oversized tires and short wheelbase, as well as a sloped rear end to make sure whatever it goes over won’t hit it on its way out. It looks like the perfect off-road machine and could be quite the competitor for our beloved Jeeps.
The only thing it’s missing is the Jeep‘s ability to have its doors and roof removed (presuming the electric version will have that). Just imagine the pleasure of driving a completely silent vehicle through a remote area with no sheet of metal or glass separating you from the nature around.
