This week we are honored to have Dave Cole, the man behind the crazy idea to build a desert race out in the middle of Johnson Valley, California. Sixteen years later King of the Hammers is one of the most amazing spectacles you will ever see.

We were inspired to bring Dave on to the podcast because of recent changes to the ownership structure of Ultra4 Racing, but as is usual for a ModernJeeper show episode we go all over the place from the origin of KOH, to the evolution of Dave Cole, to the future of Ultra4 Racing.

Dave dives into all levels of what we are dubbing the Cole philosophy, including his personal growth, what it took to build KOH, the stories, the myths and why he sold Ultra4 Racing.

He also breaks down the stats of the 2022 King of the Hammers including the most incredible statistic of all and why he will never build a car with a transfer case again.
