QUICK TECH TIP:  TJ/LJ Rear Coil Spring Correction Brackets

As many of you have seen, after lifting a TJ or an LJ beyond 2″, the rear springs can begin to “arch” themselves for lack of a better word.

For tall springs to fit in between the axle perches and the frame, well, they have to make a bend in between the perches.

Why does this happen? As the Jeep gets lifted, the pinion angle, or angle of the rear axle changes, causing the coil perches on the axle to no longer be in alignment with the coil perches on the frame.

The result is Arched Coil Syndrome.

While this does not stop you from using your rig, and will work perfectly fine for most, for some, it just isn’t right.

The folks at MetalCloak have come up with a nicely fabricated solution for those who would like to a cure for the arched coil syndrome.

Now, these are definitely not Metalcloak’s usual bolt on, Gold Zinc suspension products. This is a rare builder part from the company known for easy to install body armor and suspension kits.

A quick glance, they are well engineered builder parts designed to be first welded together and then welded directly on to your frame.

Metalcloak’s coil correction bracket is easily installed by a skilled welder.

No more arched coil and the suspension flexes nice and level!

After 23 years of corporate life, I decided to pursue my passions in the off road industry. Specializing in marketing, visibility, relationship and brand building, and acting as MetalCloak's field marketing representative, I have travelled across the country (quite a few times!) using Metalcloak’s CTI (Corner Travel Index) to educate the off road enthusiast. I have also worked with Jeep Jamboree USA as event staff, to provide additional value and education to its participants. I've been fortunate enough to work with both international as well as domestic media; have attended most of the off-road events across our country; and have driven a wide variety of vehicles. I'm a certified PADI scuba instructor and have a BS in Computer Science.
