SPIED: JL Wrangler Unlimited – The Shell Exposed!

The team over at JLWranglerForums.com have done it again. Their continued string of exclusive images and videos only perpetuates the myth that their forum is part of an elaborate and clever marketing campaign devised by the Jeep team itself.

Some sources have speculated that the release of the Wrangler, the most iconic of the Jeep product line, is so important to the overall brand that a budget of over $2 Billion has been allocated.

From secret sightings to leaked pictures, every step makes us more excited and more interested in the final product. If true, its a brilliant move and one that the Modern Jeeper applauds.

Now on to our pics… according to JLWranglerForums.com

The side view gives us the best look yet at the front vent/quarter panel design as well as the bolt locations for the doors and fenders.

Without the vent covering we can now see that the vent will help air escape from underneath the fender covers, reducing drag and enhancing aerodynamics.

The draped tarp shows the outline of the JLU’s windshield frame and full roll cage frame sans windshield glass, roof, windows or doors.

Sticking out the top of the vehicle in a few photos shows what could be a detached Freedom top panel. If so, it shows big changes to the design and materials used for the panel. [EDIT: As noted by our members, this appears to be the detached grille seen in one of the photos.]

Around back we get a look at the new style door pull handles and spare tire carrier mounting points, which we’ve learned recently will be mounted 3-4 inches lower than the current JK Wrangler.

There’s also a bonus shot of a taped-up front grille which show the shape of the grille slats.
