HAUNTED NOVELTIES, JEEPING ON WET ROCKS, AND FUN FOR ALL

The Creepy Crawl at Kansas Rocks is a family fun celebration time of year with kids costumes, creepy stuff, bonfires and marshmallows, but for us, it also had some great jeeping!

A Little Background

When I think of Kansas, I’m probably not alone in wondering where in the state could there be wheeling! Let alone, challenging wooded and rocky trails!  But, I remembered a trip. A trip back in 2011 called the Ultimate Adventure (UA 2011 Part 1). Some of you may have heard of those yearly Adventures put on by the wonderful folks at Petersen’s 4-Wheel and Off-Road Magazine, part of the FourWheeler Network. During that year’s Adventure, the first offroad park we came to was Kansas Rocks Recreation Park (http://www.ksrockspark.com). Lead by David Killion (creator of the Kansas City 4WD Association), the park was opened in August of 2003. Supported by many local clubs and individuals as well as our friends at the local off-road shops including 4×4 Land in Topeka, KS (http://4x4land.com) and Stomper Off-Road in Olathe, KS (Stomper Off-Road), the park has grown to over a few hundred acres!

Interactive Mapping

Recently, CartoTracks mapped the park as well and now offers an interactive map of all of the 176 trails! (https://www.cartotracks.com/kansas_rocks)

Creepy Crawl

We headed out to their Creepy Crawl event and were welcomed by 250 registered rigs and 640+ people! And this isn’t their biggest event! It had rained a little the days before which makes many of these trails very challenging! All in all, we had a great time, met some fabulous fellow Jeepers and even got some wheeling in before it got dark and scary! Hope you enjoy the pics and if you make it into Kansas, make sure you plan a trip out to Kansas Rocks!

After 23 years of corporate life, I decided to pursue my passions in the off road industry. Specializing in marketing, visibility, relationship and brand building, and acting as MetalCloak's field marketing representative, I have travelled across the country (quite a few times!) using Metalcloak’s CTI (Corner Travel Index) to educate the off road enthusiast. I have also worked with Jeep Jamboree USA as event staff, to provide additional value and education to its participants. I've been fortunate enough to work with both international as well as domestic media; have attended most of the off-road events across our country; and have driven a wide variety of vehicles. I'm a certified PADI scuba instructor and have a BS in Computer Science.
