Jessy and Corey 2nd time meeting!!

One of the coolest things about living in the time and technological age that we do is that we can connect with almost anyone from anywhere in the world at any time.  Through all of the different social media channels — from Instagram to Facebook to blogging — we have the opportunity to communicate with and even befriend people we may have never met in real life, which is crazy!

It’s also really amazing, and something that I am personally super grateful for. I have made so many sweet friends through social media over the years, many of which have become the kind of friends that I don’t know where I’d be without today.  And it honestly blows my mind that I get the pleasure of now meeting and have them in my life simply because we followed one another on Instagram or read each other’s blogs… or both! While it’s something that at one time may have seemed totally weird, it has become more and more normal and accepted to meet new people through online channels.

We all know what that means and what the jeep family means to us jeepers. When you buy a Jeep we are immediately surrounded by a whole new set of friends and family that would do anything for you. I have had a jeep most of my life, but in the last 3 years I stepped out and finally joined a jeep group or “Jeep family” in Oklahoma and my life was changed forever.

I can be a loaner and do my own thing but I had no clue how important my jeep family would be to me, and that I would end up fulfilling some of my dreams being in the industry. As social media has grown more and more through the years, I have come to learn that I get “friended” a lot by strangers just because I have a jeep. Do I know most of these people personally? NO! But, we all have one common interest… JEEP!

It’s just a common occurrence that happens on facebook or any social media outlets. I have to say over the years I have gotten to meet a lot of faces I didn’t know that I have looked up to or have become great friends…and it amazes me every day.

So many of us get to know each other through videos, pictures and sharing so much of our lives that we look forward to finally meeting them. Its industry leaders from many companies that we follow and interact with because of Jeeps, offroading, and the adventures they share and events we attend that make it that much more exciting!

We have made life long friends and connections with so many people that we would otherwise never know if it weren’t for social media. Yes, there are negatives to social media but look at all the positive things that have happened as well.

Some of you know my passion for racing, and others may not. Social Media has put me in contact with racers and industry folks that have helped me along the way that I wouldn’t have probably ever gotten the chance to have a professional relationship with.

It is also a means of promoting myself and my racing career. Because let’s face it, we all get a lot of exposure on these social media platforms. I have many fond memories of meeting some of my now closest friends just simply from following or friending someone on Facebook.

Now that I am so heavily involved in the industry I get to see many of them from all over the country many times a year. They have all been such a blessing to me!

Here’s the thing: the internet can be a real tough place to hang nowadays with all of its bad news and trolls and dark spaces, but it can also be so beautiful and amazing because you really could make some lifelong friends just by reaching out to them.  So do it, because you never know just what kind of connection could flourish as a result. I’m cheering you on!

Never stop meeting new people! Step outside your comfort zone once in a while…it will be worth it!

I look forward to meeting you either through a social media platform or at an event or on the trail!
