We are so excited and hope you can be apart of the S.M. Off-Road Expo 2018. It’s going to be huge this year, full on Man Show Vendor Fair and Off-Road Expo as well as the dreaded Obstacle Course(Drive your own rig through). This year it will be at the ELK’s Rodeo grounds in Santa Maria (Amazing Venue!!!) and we hope you and your business will come and grow with us as this event grows.
The plan is to have everything Outdoor and Off-Road style for a never before event here on the Central Coast!! There is no cost to to be a part of it and we would love you to come. With the help of the Santa Maria Elks club, we will be taking over the radio airwaves and advertising this event in full force!! We are expecting with the already quick response from the community of local businesses to have around 100 vendors!
The Sun will beam down directly on the equator giving us just about equal amounts of day and night in most parts of the world. If you live south of the equator, this is your Spring Equinox. Also, try balancing an egg on its end! Whether or not you succeed has nothing to do with the Equinox, but it’s still a fun game to try any day of the year. 🙂
This charity event is being held in order to raise money for 4 Wheel to Heal (4W2H) to support their current endeavors. 4W2H is dedicated to taking wounded veterans, from all branches of service, to off-roading events. These events involve four wheeling, rock crawling, mud bogging, shooting and camping. Their mission is to boost morale for these veterans and give them an experience they will never forget.
Built To Heal was created with the expectation that a few friends would show up and help raise a little bit of money for a cause we all cared about. During that first year, we had less than 40 participants and ended up donating around $400. 2014 saw a sharp increase in attendance and a donation of around $4,000. Our 2015 registration turned 400 registered participants and we were able to raise $6,000. Our 4th event, in 2016, also brought in just under 400 participants and a donation of $6,800. This year, we have a mammoth goal of being able to raise $10,000!
The event consists of a full day of wheeling with a group at Rausch Creek. In the early evening, we have dinner which is a cook-out style meal prepared by volunteers. Once everyone has gotten a chance to eat, we begin the raffle in the pavilion behind the main office.
Jeep Beach West is fun in the sun and under the stars on the dunes at Pismo Beach. It is the largest event of its kind where Jeeps gather to camp and play in the dunes and enjoy the nearby trails in California’s Central Valley.
Jeep Beach West was born in 2014 when a few friends came together at Pismo Beach to camp and wheel. Since then, the event has become the premier event for Jeepers looking to enjoy the beach and dunes on the Pacific Ocean. Oceano Dunes is geologically unique and also provides an impressive playground for off-highway enthusiasts from throughout the United States. This off road area is among the most popular and unique of California State Parks. The 5 1/2 miles of beach open for vehicle use and the sand dunes available for off highway motor vehicle recreation are attractions for visitors from throughout the United States.
The family-friendly charity event starts out with a 36 mile police escorted convoy from Tampa, Florida to the Sun n Fun airport in Lakeland, Florida just off county line road, where we have a 20,000 SF hangar and a lot of outdoor space. We will have a live band, beer, raffles, games and prizes, as well as a bike and jeep show n shine (ALL BIKES ARE WELCOME)! The raffle grand prizes are a fully custom built Jeep Wrangler Rubicon AND a 100th Anniversary Harley Davidson.
The event last year brought over 1,200+ people with only 3 months to plan and this year we are looking to double it. This year we are sponsored by Jeepin Central Florida Magazine, Born to Ride Magazine, Full Throttle Magazine, Team Farrell – Farrell Cares, Tampa Jeep Krewe, along with a bunch of others and bringing more on every day.
The radiant point for the Draconid meteor shower almost coincides with the head of the constellation Draco the Dragon in the northern sky. That’s why the Draconids are best viewed from the Northern Hemisphere. The Draconid shower is a real oddity, in that the radiant point stands highest in the sky as darkness falls. That means that, unlike many meteor showers, more Draconids are likely to fly in the evening hours than in the morning hours after midnight. This shower is usually a sleeper, producing only a handful of languid meteors per hour in most years. But watch out if the Dragon awakes! In rare instances, fiery Draco has been known to spew forth many hundreds of meteors in a single hour. The shower runs annually from October 6-10 and peaks this year on the the night of the 8th. This will be an excellent year to observe the Draconids because there will be no moonlight to spoil the show. Best viewing will be in the early evening from a dark location far away from city lights. Meteors will radiate from the constellation Draco, but can appear anywhere in the sky.
