How Will The New Wrangler 4XE Charge On The Trail?
Industry News September 7, 2020 Corey Osborne
We have all seen the reports of the newest Wrangler coming in 2021. The Jeep Wrangler 4xe pairs a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with two electric motors, powered by a 400-volt, 17-kWh Lithium-ion battery. The system provides a total of 375 hp and 470 ft-lbs of torque!
But how will a hybrid get us to those remote places we all want to get to? The headline from Jalopnik says it all!
Jeep Is Installing Solar Chargers Off-Road On The Rubicon And In Moab For The New Hybrid Wrangler!
Jeep has already confirmed that the hybrid had made it through the Rubicon Trail on electric power, but if you are like me, pushing the limits of its capabilities without some sort of backup plan just doesn’t feel right. Jeep is heavily committed to making sure the new breed of vehicles doesn’t leave us stranded. So far, Rubicon Springs and a few select areas in Moab are scheduled to see solar powered charging stations.
You can sign up for updates on the Wrangler 4xe on Jeep’s website, which says it’s coming in December of 2020!
