[catie’s corner] Jeeping Around Mount Rainier!

During my time in the Pacific Northwest, I took a few trips to the iconic Mount Rainier. This active stratovolcano hovers over Washington state at over 14,400 feet!

During the summer it is quite common to still see snow on top due to the elevation and “cooler” weather. During the winter, the snow can be extremely intense, so definitely plan ahead before you visit.

Throughout the park there are amazing views. There are tons of awesome hikes to go on all over Mount Rainier National Park. There are also campgrounds and picnic areas to chill at. Make sure you have a map to navigate throughout the park because there won’t be much cell service, if at all.

Mount Rainier National Park is full of giant trees, mountains, waterfalls, meadows, and streams. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, and yes I know, I say that a lot haha.

The actual park is over 200,000 acres of breathtaking beauty. Mount Rainier is the highest point in the Cascade range, which is pretty impressive. The Cascades are made up of both mountains and volcanos, and stretches from Canada down to Northern California.

If you’re not up for hiking, don’t worry. The drive through the park is more than scenic. Some of my favorite views were from overlooks or pull outs on the side of the road. This means that anyone can enjoy the beauty of Mount Rainier, even if you have a hard time getting around.

Another cool thing about the park is the trees make up a rainforest. It looks like the jurassic period in parts. There is moss everywhere and trees that are hundreds and hundreds of years old. The park does an excellent job of teaching you all about the history of the area, as well as the nature and wildlife that call this amazing place home.

If you’re a nature lover, Mount Rainier should definitely be on your bucket list. This is a place you can go time and time again and still not get your fill. It is beautiful in any season and a great trip to take with friends or family.
