U.S. Dealers are Starting to See the Gladiator Arrive!

Some ModernJeepers have heard enough about the Gladiator, but others are shouting its praise!  Now shipments have begun to dealers throughout the U.S. and the wait is over.

According to our friends at FCA:

“The all-new 2020 Jeep® Gladiator – the most capable midsize truck ever – began shipping to U.S. dealers from its home at the FCA US Toledo (Ohio) Assembly Complex on Friday, April 12, 2019. The Company invested $273 million to retool and modernize the plant for Gladiator production, and added 329 full-time positions to support the build.

Revealed in November 2018, the Gladiator is built on a rich heritage of tough, dependable Jeep trucks with an unmatched combination of rugged utility, authentic Jeep design, open-air freedom, clever functionality and versatility, best-in-class towing and 4×4 payload, advanced fuel-efficient powertrains, superior on- and off-road dynamics and a host of innovative safety and advanced technology features.”

ModernJeepers in Moab  for Easter Jeep Safari this week will get to see the concept Jeeps built on the JT design/frame.  More on that here.

$273 Million Dollars to develop this Truck? They should have just offered GM a Million for the plans to the Hummer H2 HUT and been done with it.
I suspect this will be around just about as long as the HUT was unless they make an extended cab with at least a 6′ bed.
The 4 door is Butt Ugly and useless. Just wait until the wife has to take the kids somewhere and it’s raining with nowhere to put backpacks or groceries, see how well that plays out.

The ModernJeeper thinks that it is not Hummer SUT market they are going after but the Tacoma, Ranger, Colorado Sport Truck market that they are most targeting. By all intent, we believe they have hit a home run in that market segment. Time will tell if this has the staying power of the iconic Wrangler or not.
