According to JLWranglerForums.com, these grainy photos may be what the new Rubicon Edition 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler will look like.

As we have seen with previous spec diagrams, the overall look is very similar to the popular JK Wrangler but with some key differences.

  • A Longer Hood
  • 10A Style Front Bumper
  • Vents Behind the Front Fenders
  • More Character to the Front Fenders

The pictures also confirm that the top is still removable and the front window is “fold-able” though few rarely do.

This photo could confirm the traditional removable top will stay.

But that’s not the real story here.

Whether or not these pictures are real, JLWranglerForums.com has been on the forefront of speculation about what the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler will be all about.

How are they doing that? From incredible renderings that are the work of true artists, to spy shots no one else, even those who make a living off a spy shots, can’t seem to get, to comments and quotes from “insiders” that no one can confirm.

Who is JLWranglerForums.com?

Some have joked, including our own Matson Breakey, contributor to ModernJeeper and VP Marketing at Metalcloak, that the forum is a well funded guerilla marketing campaign coordinated directly by Jeep and FCA.

But is that so funny?

If true, it fits right in with the games that auto makers have been playing for years – spy shots and camouflage covered cars — all of which is designed to create buzz. All designed to get us to do what we are doing here. Talk about it.

Further investigation of JLWranglerForums.com by this publication lead to a dead end when it was discovered that the WHOIS listing for the domain is listed as Private. When you register a domain you have the option of letting your ownership of the domain be public, or private. Very few pay the extra fee for privacy unless they are trying to hide their ownership.

With JLWranglerForums.com listed as private – and the ownership hidden from public view – there are a couple of possibilities including…

One… this forum is supported by former or current FCA employees who are trying to remain anonymous for fear of losing their jobs (or worse) – remember the engineer who leaked the iPhone?

Or… this forum is owned by a company that can easily be connected to FCA and it’s all part of a very cool marketing stunt.

Either way, it doesn’t really matter, does it?

We are all excited about the JL, and forums like this are just helping us to keep up the buzz.
